Welcome to my new blog and website! I am so excited to get to share about my experience as an Au Pair in Germany!
Although I am not in Germany yet, and I am not officially an Au Pair, I wanted to share about my experience of finding a family and deciding to be an Au Pair.
In December, a classmate and friend sent me a message, telling me that she knew of a family looking for an Au Pair to move back to Germany with them this summer. She asked if I was interested and I immediately said yes and the mom contacted me a few days later. I know tha most Au Pair's do not have the experience that I have had in finding a family. I am fortunate and blessed that the family currently lives in the ame city I do, and I am able to babysit for them, spend time with them and really see if I am interested in working for/with them! Since January, I have spent time with the children and sat down with the mom on a few occasions to talk about everything! It has been such a blessing to feel like I really do understand the family and how they work before making a decision to move across the globe for a year.
Each time we met, Julia and I talked a lot about expectations, what we're each looking for and just about ourselves and her family. I am really glad that I've gotten to spend time with the children. I already love them and I am excited to watch them grow over the next year. We spent a lot of time understanding each other and getting to know each other, which has been really helpful!! The more that you know about each other, the better the experience will be for both parties!
In a few weeks we will meet again, and we will craft the contract for the family and myself. I honestly cannot believe that this is my life, and I get to do this after I graduate! Please keep me in your prayers as I begin to prepare to leave for Germany in about five months.
